Austin, TX – Trooper Injured in Crash at Lavaca St & 15th St

Austin, TX (July 19, 2020) – Late Saturday morning, a state trooper sustained injuries after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection in Austin.

The crash took place at approximately 11:30 a.m. yesterday, July 18 at the intersection of Lavaca Street and 15th Street near an active protest.

The Texas Department of Safety reported that the trooper was headed west on 15th street on a motorcycle with his emergency lights on when a Blue 2006 Mazda 4DR headed east on 15th attempted a left-hand turn in front of the trooper. This caused the trooper to hit the vehicle and sustain injuries.

The officer was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The roadway in the area the accident took place was shut down for a period of time after the crash. No other injuries were reported to have resulted from the incident.

No further details have been released regarding the details of the accident.
