Beaumont, TX – One Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Hwy 87/73

Beaumont, TX (July 24, 2020) – A male pedestrian was struck and killed by a passing motorist this past Wednesday morning on a highway in Beaumont.

The pedestrian, a 40-year-old man from Groves, was traveling by foot along the highway when he was struck by a car while attempting to cross the road. The time of the collision was about 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, about a mile east of Port Arthur.

A 24-year-old driver from Orange struck the pedestrian while they were headed west in their 2008 Infinity on Highway 87, just south of the Rainbow Bridge where it becomes Highway 73.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

Currently, no charges are pending against the driver of the Infinity, and no other injuries were reported to have resulted from the incident.

No further information has been released regarding the crash or its surrounding circumstances.

An investigation into the details of the crash and the reason it took place will be carried out.
