Corpus Christi, TX – Child Killed, Mother Injured in Head-on Crash on Old Brownsville Rd
Texas Accident News2021-06-03T22:27:20-07:00Corpus Christi, TX (June 2, 2021) – A 5-year-old boy died and his mother sustained life-threatening injuries after a head-on collision that occurred on Tuesday afternoon, June 1.
Officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department said that a 36-year-old man was driving an SUV on Old Brownsville Road when he crossed over multiple lanes and struck a car traveling in the opposite direction head-on.
A 38-year-old mother was driving the vehicle, and her 5-year-old son was in the backseat in a booster seat and was buckled in. Authorities said that the seatbelt appeared to fail, ejecting the boy from the car.
The man driving did not appear to have severe injuries, but the mother of the deceased child suffered life-threatening injuries requiring transport to an area medical center. Her current condition is unknown.
Authorities are looking into charges against the driver of the SUV, though the investigation is ongoing at this time.
