Corpus Christi, TX – Major Car Accident on SPID near Rodd Field Rd & Paul Jones Ave

Corpus Christi, TX (July 13, 2022) – A major car accident took place in Corpus Christi on July 13. Sources say the wreck occurred on South Padre Island Drive (SPID) just before noon on Monday. 

Responders were sent to the scene located between Rodd Field Road and Paul Jones Avenue on SPID. While emergency crews were in the area Monday morning, the eastbound lanes were shut down for several hours. 

The injured victims were treated at the crash site by paramedics. Those in need of extensive medical care were transported to local hospitals for treatment. 

Traffic was backed up near the crash site while police and paramedics worked to secure the area. Local drivers commuting near  Rodd Field on SPID were asked to use caution or find different routes. 

Currently, the extent of the injuries suffered has not been reported. Police in Corpus Christi continue to investigate the circumstances of the wreck.
