Corpus Christi, TX – Roll-Over Crash Involving Prisoner Transport Van

Corpus Christi, TX (August 25, 2020) – A police prisoner transport van occupied by a driver and three prisoners was involved in a roll-over crash just after midnight on August 24. The crash took place at an intersection in Corpus Christi. 

The van was forcibly struck by 54-year-old Joseph Perez in an unspecified vehicle who ran a red light at the intersection of North Tancahua and Lipan Street. 

The reason Perez ran the red light remains under investigation at this time.

The force of the collision caused the van to roll over, injuring the three passenger-prisoners inside. Paramedics assisted those with injuries at the accident site and transported them to a nearby hospital. 

The injuries suffered in the crash were stated to be non-life-threatening in nature by a local news source. 

None of the injured victims have been identified at this time, and no other injuries were reported to have resulted from the crash.

Perez is facing charges of intoxication assault with a motor vehicle.
