Texas Car Accidents

Car wrecks in Texas happen all the time. In 2017, there were approximately 1.5 accident-related fatalities per one hundred million resident miles driven, according to information from statistical sources. This indicates a 5% decline from 2016, however, it also indicates that there was a fatality more than once a day from 2016 to 2017.

Driver negligence causes more car wrecks in the United States and throughout the state of Texas than anything else. Over 90% of the car accidents reported in the state of Texas and throughout the United States are the result of some form of driver negligence. The most common forms of driver negligence in the United States include:

  • Driver distraction
  • Fatigue
  • Intoxication
  • Speeding

These and other forms of driver negligence cause millions of injuries and thousands of deaths every single year. On average, over 4 million people are hurt in car crashes in the United States per year, while over 32,000 people are killed. The alarming fact is that the majority of these injury accidents are preventable.
