Corpus Christi, TX – Crystal Pineda, Ariana Dewey Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on TX-286 near Morgan Ave

Corpus Christi, TX (June 29, 2022) – Two women lost their lives in a wrong-way accident on the Crosstown Expressway on the morning of Friday, June 24. At approximately 2:00 a.m., responders were sent to the scene located on State Highway 286. 

According to reports from officials, the collision took place near Morgan Avenue on State Highway 286. When police arrived at the scene, they found one driver deceased in her vehicle. The other driver was trapped inside her vehicle and required extrication from fire crews. 

The second driver was transported from the scene to a local hospital where she later lost her life. The women were identified as Crystal Pineda, 28, and Ariana Dewey, 18. Police believe the 28-year-old woman was driving in the wrong direction on SH 286 while speeding when she collided with the 18-year-old woman’s vehicle. 

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.
