Cuero, TX – Driver Killed by Sleeping Truck Driver on Hwy 183 near Cooperative Way

Cuero, TX (January 25, 2023) – A driver was killed after their vehicle was hit by a semi-truck in Dewitte County on Saturday morning, January 21. 

The fatal crash was reported on Highway 183 near Cooperative Way in Cuero at around 6:30 a.m. A southbound tractor-trailer veered into oncoming traffic, where it hit a passenger car. Local reports indicated that the truck driver fell asleep behind the wheel. 

The driver of the other vehicle suffered fatal injuries in the accident. The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed at this time. 

An ongoing investigation into the official cause of this deadly crash is in progress.
