New Braunfels, TX – Man Killed in Car Crash on FM 725 near West Zipp Rd
Texas Accident News2022-03-17T11:13:45-07:00New Braunfels, TX (March 16, 2022) – A man from New Braunfels lost his life during a car accident that occurred in northern Guadalupe County. Officials responded to the scene at approximately 3:30 p.m. Monday, March 14.
The New Braunfels Fire Department and the New Braunfels Police Department were called to the intersection of West Zipp Road and FM 725 for a major car crash involving a pickup truck towing a trailer and a dump truck.
Police arrived at the scene and found that the dump truck had crashed into the side of the pickup truck. This resulted in the death of the pickup’s male driver. The pickup truck ended up rolling over onto the driver’s side.
The man who lost his life was identified as 84-year-old Antonio Garcia Olvera of New Braunfels. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Guadalupe County Justice of the Peace for Pct 1.
The driver of the dump truck, a Seguin resident, age 62, sustained no injuries in the accident. Preliminary reports show that the dump truck ran a red light headed outbound on FM 275 and struck the pickup truck’s driver side. The pickup truck was turning inbound on FM 725 from West Zipp Road.
Police in New Braunfels continue to investigate. The intersection was closed for almost 4 hours while crews worked at the crash scene.
