San Antonio, TX – David Alaquinez Identified in Fatal Crash on Loop 410

San Antonio, TX (December 28, 2020) – As previously reported, a double, fatal DUI accident occurred on Christmas Eve in San Antonio that took the life of two individuals. The first victim in that crash has been identified as David Alaquinez, 23. 

Alaquinez was traveling east in the 10500 block of Southeast Loop 410 at approximately 2:45 a.m. when a vehicle traveling the wrong way approached his car head-on. 

Alaquinez swerved to avoid the wrong-way driver, and as a result, drove his car underneath an 18-wheeler that was nearby. He was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision at 3:04 a.m. by responding medical professionals. 

The wrong-way driver was identified as Alejandro Montoya Rodriguez, 26. After causing Alaquinez to crash, he continued traveling the wrong way, causing yet another fatal crash. This crash took the life of Jay Simon Mejia, 33, who was pronounced deceased at 3:07 a.m. Mejia’s vehicle was forced onto its side and came to rest in a grassy median between the highway and an access road. 

Rodriguez and a passenger managed to escape their vehicle before it caught fire, according to police. They were both transported to University Hospital in unknown condition.
