San Antonio, TX – Semi-Truck Cab Torn Up in Severe Truck Crash on I-37

San Antonio, TX (August 12, 2020) – One person is in the hospital after a severe traffic accident involving two semi-trucks took place on Interstate 37 in South Bexar County. 

The incident occurred on Interstate 37 near Mathis Road just before 1:30 a.m. on the morning of Tuesday, August 11. 

According to the Bexar County Sheriff’s office, the two big rigs were involved in a collision after one of them attempted to pass the other on the interstate. One of the trucks was forced off the highway into a guardrail, which caused the front end of the cab of the 18-wheeler to be ripped apart. 

The driver of that truck was promptly transported to a nearby medical center for the treatment of serious but non-critical injuries. No other injuries were reported to have resulted from the crash. 

No one involved in the wreck has been identified at this time. 

Minor damage was done to the other truck in the collision. No charges are currently pending, and intoxication was not deemed to be a factor. 

The area of the interstate where the wreck occurred was shut down for a period of time following the incident to allow police to assess damages and fire crews to clear the roadway of debris.
