San Antonio, TX – Two Hospitalized After DUI Accident on Benrus Blvd 

San Antonio, TX (January 21, 2021) – A driver believed to be under the influence of alcohol crashed into a car, hospitalizing both of its occupants on Monday, January 18th.  

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the accident took place at about 10:00 p.m. at the intersection of Larke Avenue and Benrus Boulevard on the city’s northwest side.  

Upon their arrival, police discovered that a pick-up truck had broadsided a silver car, trapping the driver of the silver car inside of the vehicle. After being safely extricated, the driver was transported via ambulance to University Hospital in critical condition. 

The passenger, an unidentified female, was also taken to University Hospital. Her condition was listed as serious.  

Another car that was parked but occupied was also involved in the collision. Reports indicate that none of the occupants of the parked vehicle were seriously injured.  

Police stated that the adult male driving the pick-up was heading southbound on Benrus Boulevard at a high rate of speed when they tried to make a lefthand turn and failed to notice the oncoming silver car.  

The driver of the pick-up, who was not seriously injured during the crash, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. They expect that more charges will follow once their investigation has been concluded.
