According to reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety, 22-year-old Joaquin Puente of Crystal City, Texas, was driving a 2001 Buick Century east on Texas State Highway 188. For unknown reasons, his vehicle collided with a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck. The impact of the crash sent the Dodge off the roadway, where it rolled over and came to rest in a ditch.
Puente sustained fatal injuries in the crash. The driver of the Dodge, identified as 71-year-old Charles Rodriguez, and his passenger, 53-year-old Blanca Jones, were both injured. Rodriguez and Jones were both transported to Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital by Allegiance EMS. At this time, the incident is being investigated.
We hope Charles Rodriguez and Blanca Jones recover quickly following this accident.
We offer our sympathies to the family of Joaquin Puente.
Car Accidents in Texas
Automobile accidents take place in Texas nearly every two minutes that result in injuries. Regrettably, victims of these accidents often have to go through extensive medical care. Many victims sustain injuries that force them out of work for several weeks or even months. In some cases, victims are left permanently disabled.
Being forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars on medical care can seem incredibly difficult. Unfortunately, the financial consequences that are brought on by automobile accidents often make it difficult for victims and their families to move forward.
After being hurt in a crash, victims have the ability to pursue personal injury claims. To recover compensation, they must be able to demonstrate negligence. This includes proving that the defendant was acting recklessly while behind the wheel. You must be able to prove that the reckless action, such as speeding, driving impaired, or driving while distracted, was the cause of the accident and that you suffered damages as a result.
It is important to know that Texas follows the laws of comparative negligence. If you contributed to the accident in any way, it can reduce the amount of compensation recovery. This makes it vital for you to be able to prove that the defendant was at fault so you can maximize your recovery. A Texas car accident lawyer can be invaluable when it comes to proving their case.
